After moving to New York City in 1998, Sasha Gleyzer took up photography to capture the unusual power and uniqueness of both the traditional and contemporary elements of the city. New York is a world of inspiration for photographers and Sasha always seems to find new details, new feelings and new aspects of this "wonderland."
With ideas all around him, Sasha started "to see scenes as if they were pictures already made." The marsh is Dorothy Kerper Monnelly's home landscape which she describes as a place of splendor. Having lived there over thirty years, there are layers to her appreciation and awareness, and the layering enriches everything. Through the endless pursuit of this old friend and companion she has learned most of what she knows about photographing the landscape. Gradually, she has realized that The Great Marsh, like other natural landscapes around the world, holds the truth for us and, she hopes, for generations to come.
