"When young, Kevin O'Brien studied hard, played sports, and went to a good college. Upon completing a few degrees he promptly abandoned career plans to be an architect and enthusiastically dedicated himself to painting, the 'other' pursuit that he had since childhood. Early in his career, juggling the role of artist and business person proved difficult. A friend told Kevin to get some silk, paint on it and she would sell it. He went down to Fabric Row in Philadelphia and bought 20 yards of the finest polyester (the salesman figured he wouldn't know the difference). Photographer Dan Zamudio’s work centers on his belief that “Traditional photography is the New Alternative”. Dan creates hand-printed photographs in a darkroom using methods and techniques slowly fading to the world of digital imagery. His urban landscape photographs (shot on film with a toy camera called “Diana”) incorporates his interest in vintage neon signs, urban architecture, and “links to the past” with darkroom techniques ranging from basic film development and printing to more experimental skills such as sandwiching negatives and solarization.
